  • ek civic type r??

    many on here?

just wondering what are peoples opinions on final drives and clutches to go for?
my current stock gearbox is starting to go and i think if i need to replace it why not get a bit more fun out of the car while im at it,

looking for peoples advise, so far all ive heard is ats final drive and teg diff is a good option?

    thanks in advance

I'm an ex-ATS user on my b16a ek civic, for their gears, but still love their clutches and LSDs.

ATS gears are not forged like MFactory units and under most racing conditions, they will be fine. Where they do not shine is when sudden power is applied. ie. drag launch or standing starts....not to mention the wallet bleeding you're going to experience...

MFactory gears are forged and superior with regards to durability. As far as clutches go, ATS would work fine.

Al, good to hear from ya

Which motor are you using it on? Stock axles?

Everyone here pretty gave u solid advice and routes. As for my own personal experience...

I was using the JDM Integra Type-R Final Drive Gear Set (4.785) and a Quaife A.T.B. Limited Slip Differential. I dont know how the stock lsd worked for scotty's Integra Type-R, but I consider the Quaife LSD to probably be the 2nd best mod i've done to my honda.

The final drive is cool to have and adds that extra punch when entering 5th, but my max speed (top speed) dropped to about 124mph from ~138 mph. If I had a choice, I would go back to the original transmission for my b18c1.

Quaife provided a lifetime warranty; if in case you launch (or do 2nd gear drops) often, then I would suggest you upgrade your axles before the year goes out.
