    Hybridz:

Just found this article. I know it is late, but we still must document all the news related to our Team.

SEMA Sneak Peek '07: Scion Tuner Challenge V2.0 Part II

The countdown to the showdown for the 2007 Scion Tuner Challenge is in its final stages; the xD entries and the three teams responsible for them are already in Las Vegas for the official unveiling this week at the SEMA Show. All three teams, Hybrid, Koshak, and Auto Concept Elite, officially handed in their cars to Scion for transport to the Las Vegas Convention Center last week.

The Challenge comes to a head on Thursday when NCCA judges begin the judging process to determine whether or not defending champion Team Hyrbid will be unseated this year. As part of its daily coverage of the 2007 SEMA Show this year, UrbanRacer.Com will be on hand for the showdown.

Can't wait that long? You're in luck ? being the pesky and persuasive journos that we are, we asked for (repeatedly) and received (incredibly) specs, in-build, and even final images of all three of the Scion Tuner Challenge entries.

Read on, and then check back often as we deliver the highlights from everybody's favorite automotive supershow daily.

    Team Hybrid
After winning last year's inaugural xA-themed challenge with a showstopping creation, Team Hybrid's Scion xD has a lot to live up to. Their theme last year could be summed up in three words: gold, wide, and clean. Their Challenge-winning xA sported 19x10 AME wheels tucked into a seamlessly integrated DTM and Air Walker body kit.

Can they do it again? A list of highline mods including House of Kolor paint, ING+1 aero parts, and a Garrett turbo make their entry look competitive on paper. In-build pics are often deceiving, but after comparing the level of challenges from the other two teams we think Hybrid might be against the wall in this challenge. We'll find out soon.

    Team Auto Concept Elite
Established only in August of 2006, Team Auto Concept Elite might appear to be the rookies in the challenge ? but don't let the youthfulness of the squad fool you.

One peek at their spec sheet and you know these guys are swinging for the fences; air ride, 4pt roll cage, custom widebody, and a NISMO(?) turbo ? this is the kind of deft mixing/matching that you would expect of a seasoned, if newish, show car squad.

The in-build pics show some exciting widebody work and attention to detail, but we've seen plenty of casualties of the overpromise-and-underdeliver ethic before. Will the hype match the finished product?

    Team Koshak
Team Koshak is also a new name to the Tuner Challenge; in fact, the team started out as Samurai Aftermarket Fabrication before a mid-challenge name change. Whether or not the team was dealing with an identity crisis, internal strife (as typical in high-pressure team challenges like this), or just a move to throw the other teams off the scent, we don't know.

What we do know, is that the team was one of the early finishers? as evidenced by their supply of finished pics to Scion well ahead of the deadline. And in an industry where project cars are sometimes finished at the Convention Center, this shows these guys have it together.

The word "color" probably pops into mind after your first glance at Koshak's extreme open air xD. The answer is custom PPG color, Samurai Green Tea and yes, it is a love-it or hate-it hue. Case in point, our staff was split. Throw in the custom mini-check plaid upholstery, and custom color-keyed black/green wheels and you've got one boldly unique statement. If the Challenge is won on uniqueness alone, the Koshak entry (love it or hate it) would be in a class by itself.

We'll find out what the NCCA judges think on Thursday.

lol yeah you know that blue stuff he's smoothing out. i'm not sure whats the particular name for it but, you can shave that down to what ever way you want it formed then you take it off and lay a resin over it create a mold then you fiber glass it on to the car to create a body kit. correct me if i'm rong homies , i just need that to help smooth out some curves then adding more metal.
