my polished intake pipe has spots and is just plan dirty what a good cleaner to use? just plane soap and water and then a chrome polish what??

I think the polish is your best bet. Hard water marks on polished pieces in the engine pay seem to almost stain. I've used a quick detailer on my polished intake manifold, but for the pipes, polish seems to be the only solution.
