  • Gymkhana/solo

So I am not hearing too much about people competing in solo time attacks anymore, lost art? Gymkhana translation means solo but I guess now means Ken Block sideways ? Not a bad thing, I would just like to see more competitors broaden their horizon I guess haha. This is where all the underpowered cars shine!!!...just a thought

Just curious what your definition of Gymkhana is.

If you mean the timed solo obstacle course Gymkhana, it's more in Japan than anywhere else. Other than Ken Block, it really HASN'T caught on...YET.

If you mean straight up on-track time-attack, Redline is ALWAYS fun!

and if we're talking gymkhana using 'mother nature' as an obstacle course, well that's simply WRC (my fav motorsport) that some people called 'gymkhana' because of a touge battle that incorporated a white gymkhana-spec'd WRX.

I say if you feel there needs to be more competitors, best thing to do is try it out yourself. Even IF you mess up and people say 'haha u failed!' you can hold your head high and say 'so what? I actually did it. what about you?'

I absolutely agree. My mere intention of this particular meaning is more focused on the coned course with a choreographed route to follow (as opposed to just following cones).

Redline on the otherhand is definitely fun! However many of those highpowered monsters would not find an opportunity to unleash there potential on (coned) gymkhana courses for they are too small [we brought a taiko S R34 Skyline to compete, the only good place for it was the very last straight haha]

As for being laughed at for looking stupid trying to attempt something, that sounds more than anything like me!

I wouldn't mind dropping one of my cars in that. You going to start up an event?

I think the closest thing to gymkhana in cali tbh is ricer kids pretending to drift in parking lots that have large planters and dividers, lol.

Haha ricer kids. I was thinking of starting an event. Last time we brought out the skyline I invited Fernando and Judy to the event. It's called solo2 and held at the auto club speedway in Fontana. I'll register To compete after I make a few more tweaks on my Z31 i have 400ish photos my friend took last time I'll try to post some soon.
