HAHA, I don't have the budget for an RX-7 right now, but i still have a longing to get one. Guess i'll have to lower my expectations for now. I remember seeing an article in Sport Compact Cars a couple years back on swapping problematic rotaries engines with Camaro engines. The FD ans FC's chassis are what excite me most about the cars, but how much would a project like that cost and how difficult is the swap?

Subframe, Driveshaft, bumpsteer kit, torque arm, transmission brace, custom cooling system, custom exhaust, GM tune, Speedometer and Tachometer converter, battery relocation kit = $4000 + give or take.
Labor = $1000 +
It's a difficult swap, but for all the benefits. It's worth it, trust me I know. Great MPG, lots of TRQ, reliable. I can go on for days. Either way Rotary or Piston, there is no right from wrong. What you're comfortable with and can afford will be the right move. Good Luck

Got a friend who specializes in doing that? Sweet! Wanna learn how to be a rotary specialist, that or drift mechaninc, lol!
Jus got back from irwindale for Rd 7 of Formula D. Vaughn Gittin Jr. (Falken 05 Mustang) won it followed by Tanner Foust (AEM 350 Z) and Justin Pollick (Drift Alliance FC3S RX-7). Those were some pretty tight battles.

NEED A CAR, NEED A CAR, NEED A CAR, NEED ON, NEED ONE!!!
Being new in town sux, you have to adapt to your surroundings quick to survive, and having a car is mandatory in LA! I'm on craigslist like crazy, but I needz some advice. Would anyone reccomend buying a car from a dealer over a privately owned vehicle?
I wanna keep my budget in between $1000-$2000 and it must be tuner friendly. Got any ideas?

At around 2k and wanting a "tuner" friendy vehicle, which I assume has to be daily drivable. First thing that pops into my mind is a 1989-1991 Nissan 240sx, I'm sure that car is self explanatory since it seems you're into the whole drifting scene.
You can check craigslist, zilvia.net, autotrader etc etc and they will have a few 240sx's for 2k and under. Hope all that info helps, good luck on your search.

By tuner friendly, if you have a 1-2k budget, don't expect too much. This is Cali and you get what you pay for. your only bet is a 240 sx in the above mentioned years. But the running condition wouldn't be that great. Or the body work is just shot. You can also look at older mazda miatas. Like 1999 and before.
